Q: During production, the ultrasonic horn often gets stuck and wears out rapidly, requiring frequent replacement. What practical maintenance methods can we adopt?
A: As a core component of ultrasonic welding, the horn with sticking issues and excessive wear will not only compromise welding quality, but also raise production costs. Based on practical on-site experience, we recommend maintenance measures from four aspects: cleaning, material inspection, parameter setting and accessory selection.
Clean the horn thoroughly before and after daily operation to remove surface oxide layers and residual metal debris. Accumulated foreign matter will lead to defective welding points and horn damage.
Strictly control the quality of raw materials. Oil stains and impurities tend to adhere to the horn during high-frequency welding, which is a major cause of sticking. Make sure all wire harnesses are clean before welding.
Set welding power, pressure and delay parameters in accordance with technical requirements. Arbitrarily increasing parameters will overburden the horn and accelerate metal fatigue and wear.
Aluminum material is prone to sticking due to its inherent properties. For welding large-gauge aluminum wire harnesses, customized wear-resistant horns are highly recommended. They can effectively prevent sticking and greatly extend the service life of the horn.
